Porcelain Veneers
Natick, Dover, Newton, Sherborn, Framingham and Wellesley, MA
Porcelain veneers are a very beautiful cosmetic addition to your smile. Razor-thin shells of porcelain are bonded to the front surfaces of multiple teeth to alter the outward appearance of your smile. Dr. Svetlana Novak offers several veneer types so you can get the style that best suits your dental needs. Veneers are often applied in combination with other advanced smile makeover treatments such as dental crowns, teeth whitening, dental bridges, and dental bonding.
When Veneers are Appropriate
Porcelain veneers are one of the most powerful treatments available for improving the appearance of your smile. At South Natick Dental, the majority of our veneers patients are seeking a full-smile rejuvenation, so we can use the veneers to simultaneously treat:
- Discolored teeth
- Gapped smile
- Crooked teeth
- Chipped or cracked teeth
- Poorly shaped teeth
- Gummy smile
Normally, this means that several veneers will be applied in a row. You can choose to apply a veneer on just one tooth, but Dr. Novak recommends veneers be placed as a set for best results.
How Veneers Enhance Your Smile
Porcelain veneers are often referred to as “instant orthodontics” because they create the illusion of straight teeth without physically moving them into a new position like dental braces. Dr. Novak can usually complete the veneer process in just two visits.
On the first visit, we will take an impression of the teeth needing repair, prepare them with a gentle enamel removal, and place a set of temporary veneers for you to wear while your porcelain set is being crafted. These temporary veneers are highly aesthetic but not as durable as your final veneers. After your new veneers are ready, Dr. Novak will test the fit and bond that set to your teeth.
Lumineers are another option for improving the appearance of your smile. The procedure is similar, except that there is no need to remove enamel before placing Lumineers. The tradeoff is that Lumineers can only be used for a narrow profile of cases.
